About our Travels
Alex hails from balmy Anchorage, Alaska but was born in Heidelberg, Germany and grew up visiting family in California and the East Coast. In college, he hiked the Camino de Santiago with his family and studied abroad in India with subsequent travels in Nepal.
Laura was raised in Wisconsin. As a younger person, her family had a project of summiting the highest peak in each U.S. state. So far, she’s completed 42 high points and has visited all 50 states. In college, she studied in the Dominican Republic and visited and worked in Peru. After graduation, she packed her bags for Tunja, Colombia for a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant position.
Both Alex and Laura have done some professional travel (Kenya, Rwanda, Switzerland, Spain) and carve out as many vacation days as possible to continue seeing new places. Together, they’ve been to Denmark, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, Thailand, and Turkey.
